A Voluntary & Community Sector Strategy for Hackney

Recognising the unique and important role of the VCS in Hackney, the Council and Hackney CVS are leading the development of a new strategy for the sector. This will sit alongside the emerging new Community Strategy and will set out the sector’s vision for the future and how we can work together to engender a thriving VCS. Given the many pressures facing the sector and the increasingly challenging funding environment this is a critical piece of work that will support the sector as a whole to continue contributing to the success of Hackney.

We initially adopted a social research approach working with a representative mix of local organisations to begin developing the vision and to set out some draft overarching strategic objectives and principles for the strategy that are relevant to and potentially benefit the whole sector. We are now broadening the engagement and offering an open invitation to local groups and organisations to attend a focus group in order to comment on these, sense check them and identify any potential gaps.

Mind's Mindfulness Teacher Training-Autumn 2017 intake

Source By: City & Hackney Mind

We are now recruiting for the autumn 2017 intake of the Mindfulness in Mind Practitioner Training Programme (PTP), a 12-month teacher training pathway.  Please feel free to pass on the information to anyone that may be interested for themselves or on behalf of others.

This National initiative led by City, Hackney and Waltham Forest Mind and Mind in Salford, supports practitioners to develop both their own practice and their ability to offer mindfulness interventions to others.

This is an accessible and supportive 12 month supervised pathway involving nine full training days and supervised delivery of mindfulness in the second half of the training period. The training is primarily experiential including group and individual elements. The trainers are experienced practitioners who are supervised by Bangor and Oxford University mindfulness centre supervisors.

The PTP provides the foundations for readiness to deliver evidence based mindfulness interventions and for seeking registration with the UK Network for Mindfulness Teachers.  During the programme participants will be given guidance on submitting their application for registration with the UK Network and supported to attain the levels of competency outlined in the UK mindfulness network best practice guidelines.

The attached document will provide key information about the programme, training dates and an outline of the requirements for applicants. Please see a quote from a current PTP trainee:

“This has been an amazing opportunity to learn within a supportive group, guided by experienced practitioners.  I’ve been able to learn at my own pace and also challenge myself in a safe, trusting environment. I feel like this is giving me the tools to become a skilled practitioner, based on a deep understanding of what it means to support others to connect with Mindfulness”.
