Weaver's Company Benevolent Fund up to £15k working with vulnerable young people

Grants are available for organisations undertaking projects involving young people who are vulnerable or may become involved in crime in the UK.


Maximum Turnover:
£ 250,000
Maximum Value:

The maximum grant is usually £15,000 per annum.


The Weaver's Company Benevolent Fund Grant is provided and administered by The Weaver's Company.

The scheme is intended to support local organisations undertaking projects for young people who are vulnerable and at risk of becoming involved with crime.

The scheme aims to help vulnerable young people to stay out of trouble and to help with the rehabilitation of young offenders.

The scheme particularly wishes to fund projects that work:

  • With disadvantaged young people between the ages of five and 30, to ensure that they are given every possible chance to meet their full potential and to participate fully in society.
  • To address the social and economic problems faced by offenders and ex-offenders under the age of thirty and their families and provide them with the support and training they need to return to employment or education.

could you be the HSCF rep for the discharge to assess planning group

As part of integrated commissioning we are seeking a Voluntary & Community Sector representative for the discharge to assess,  sub group of the unplanned care board. Discharge to assess is about funding and supporting people to leave hospital, when safe and appropriate to do so, and continuing their care and assessment out of hospital. They can then be assessed for their longer-term needs in the right place.

What is Skills London?

Skills London is brought to you by London First and delivered with Prospects careers service and is the UK's biggest jobs and careers event for 15-24 year olds and their families.

It attracts over 30,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors including:

  • top employers
  • colleges
  • training providers and
  • advisers

The two day event provides visitors with the opportunity to discover careers through interactive, inspirational activities and demonstrations, and helping young people discover that what they enjoy doing could become their career.

Launch of AccessHE Online learning platform…

Founded in 2011 as a key division of London Higher, AccessHE is the London wide organisation that aims to support the progression of under-represented groups to higher education (HE).

It does this by enabling HE institutions (HEIs), schools and colleges to achieve their objectives on widening access to HE.

Over the summer, the AccessHE London NCOP team has been busy preparing the delivery of sessions for the current academic year, including new career IAG sessions.

University of East London joins AccessHE

We are delighted to welcome the University of East London (UEL) to the AccessHE membership and look forward to working together on a number of collaborative projects.


New sessions - Hackney Forest Schools

Sessions especially for children with additional needs aged 5 -16 years old. The HIT squad and Hackney Forest Schools team have joined together to create an after school Forest Schools club for children with additional needs.

The sessions start on 27th September 2017 - Wednesdays (term time only)

Cost: £60 for 6 weeks or £10 per session

Where: Meet at Clapton Park Children’s Centre

Time: 3:45 pm - 5:45pm 

The children will then travel down to the marshes, which are wheelchair accessible and approximately a 5 minute walk for non-wheelchair users.

A trained member of staff will then run a group session in a section of the marshes where children can learn, explore and experience nature in a safe environment.

The group will be run by trained staff but children will need to be accompanied by a carer. Parents will be responsible for supervising their children or young person’s quieter time and visuals.

Joint face to face training and information sessions from Hackney's Local Offer and other SEND services...

Local Offer - Face to Face training and information sessions

If you have questions or need help understanding how to use the Local Offer or someone to do the searching for you, you can get face to face support during a Local Offer surgery.

These are run on the last Tuesday of the month at The Resource Centre at Hackney Ark.

At these surgeries the Local Offer Coordinator can help you to find and print the information from the website that you need.

The Local Coordinator is not a case worker and will not be able to advise you about individual situations. 

In order to be as helpful as possible a representative from:

  • The Resource Centre
  • Hackney's Short Breaks team 
  • Hackney SENDIAGS (SEND Information, Advice and Guidance Service) 
  • Prospects Careeres Service / SEND advisor

will also be available at these sessions and able to offer face to face advice.
