The Reducing Isolation Fund £5000-£20,000

The London Community Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of the Reducing Isolation Fund. If you are a charity, voluntary or community group and you need funding for work to reduce isolation amongst older people and to increase the involvement of older people in their community this Fund may be suitable.

The aim of the Fund is to support small organisations and projects working with older people to reduce isolation and increase involvement in the community. Applications will only be accepted for projects and work that benefits older people. By older people we mean people over the age of 50. Organisations working with the 65+ age group may be prioritised. Applications will also be considered for intergenerational work however older people must be the main beneficiaries. Organisations must demonstrate how their work meets one of the two themes: 

Fund Themes

Help reduce isolation amongst older people

Increase the involvement of older people in their community

Grant Size 

£5,000- £20,000. 

A limited number of two- year grants are available. 

Income Threshold 

Organisations with an annual income of less than £500,000 are eligible to apply. Organisations with an annual income of less than £250,000 may be prioritised.

As the RISE programme continues to grow we are expanding the team, and we currently have a vacancy for a Careers Gateway Caseworker. The Careers Gateway works to support those who are closest to the job market in order to help make the transition into long term, sustainable employment.

Hackney Green Gym

The Green Gym enables volunteers to get physically active whilst improving their wellbeing, the environment and their local community. All sessions are FREE, run weekly and everyone is welcome regardless of experience, ability or fitness.  Each session incorporates the Five Ways to Wellbeing and provides a range of new and interesting outdoor practical conservation experiences to improve strength and stamina, boost practical skills and give the opportunity to meet others with similar interests. On the day tasks can range from planting wildflowers, bulbs, shrubs and trees, to fencing and building paths and steps, to the removal of invasive species.

The essential details 

Days: The Green Gym in Hackney has sessions running every Friday

Time: Meet at the Nye Bevan Community Hall, E5 0AW, sessions run from 10:45 to 14:00

What to wear: We strongly recommend that you wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing to suit working outdoors and conditions on the day.

Refreshments: Hot drinks and healthy snacks provided. Feel free to bring a packed lunch.

Free Health and Nutrition Cook and Taste Courses for Migrants in Hackney

Helping Hackney Health (HHH) is running these free courses to improve the nutritional health and well- being of local residents, especially those with particular health needs or with few opportunities from our purpose built kitchen at Well Street GP Practice in Hackney as well as from other community kitchens.

This project will provide the opportunity to run healthy eating cook and taste courses for the migrant communities of Hackney providing a platform for social integration and sharing cultural differences whilst cooking and sharing of food. 

The overall aim of the project is:

1. to integrate communities as well as a means to improve their health and wellbeing   and; 

2. to offer them an opportunity to meet and facilitate in making healthier choices.
