Fit 4 Health – Exercise after Stroke Scheme

Source By: Triangle Care, Stroke Project

Fit 4 Health – Exercise after Stroke/TIA scheme (EASS) is an established free community based service positioned at the final stage of rehabilitation and re-enablement in health and social care. It supports individuals in the maintenance of healthy lifestyle changes and the subsequent transition to independent living. The free programme is designed to meet the long-term effects of stroke and the varied and wide-ranging exercise needs of stroke and TIA sufferers.

Fitness elements of the scheme are delivered twice a week over 8 weeks through gym and circuit based sessions. The clients are also encouraged to walk as much as possible and are given a walking package including a pedometer for the leaders to track client steps. In addition to fitness sessions, enablement days are organised to local facilities/activities and reward/feedback days are held to recognise client’s achievements.

The scheme will once again be delivered from Britannia Leisure Centre (am) and Clissold Leisure Centre (pm) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
