Mental Health

Chair: Jeffrey Blumenfeld, Chizuk

The Mental Health Special Interest Group exists to provide a forum in the London Borough of Hackney, and City of London, for anyone who has an interest in the provision of mental health services.
The fundamental vision of The Group is:

"For mental health voluntary and community sector service providers and their users to have their voice heard in a meaningful and consistent way, by those responsible for commissioning, monitoring and providing the services they receive".

The group intends to champion the needs and aspirations of service users, challenge commissioners and planners of services, determine and promote best practice and work co-operatively and collaboratively.

The MHSIG meets quarterly to receive and pass on feedback from and to the group's representatives on the Mental Health Local Implementation Team, and other sub-boards and groups, and to share relevant news and ideas for working together. There is usually a speaker on a topic chosen by the group at each meeting. Recent meetings have covered the Access to Justice including a one day conference and  changes in PCT staff.
